Akbar had commissioned the Fort to be made in 1565. There are many sections the fort is divided upon. A few notable ones which are worth watching are the structures like Moti Masjid, Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khas, and Jahangir’s Palace, Khas Mahal, Shish Mahal, and Musamman Burj.

Fatehpur Sikri

It is also one of the famous attractions of the city for the tourists. It is a huge monument that was also constructed by Akbar in the year 1569. The fort has structures of great significance to the history of India and Agra. One of the highlighting features of the fort is the ‘Buland Darwaza’ which was built in order to commemorate the victory of Akbar over Gujrat. The size of it is nearly 54 meters high and 35 meters wide.

Sikandra

Sikandra is popular because of the fact that it was home to the tomb of Akbar. The monument is a vast, beautifully carved red-ochre sandstone tomb which is set amidst a verdant patch. One of the highlighting features of the Sikandra is the 99 names of Allah written on the tombstone.

Chini Ka Rauza

This monument is popular for its Persian style dome made of glazing blue tiles that were imported from China. Chini ka Rauza has significant artwork and colored embellishments on it. The tomb was built in order to dedicate it to Allama Afzal Khan who was the Prime Minister and at the same time the poet of Shah Jahan.

There are many more such monuments and forts which can be dated very long ago and are of significance to the history of India and its rulers.
